Global political tensions rise in Spain, Colombia, and Russia

In Spain, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid, criticized Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez following a migration crisis in Ceuta. Approximately 72,000 migrants entered the Spanish enclave irregularly in late July after rumors circulated that they would not be returned to Morocco. Most migrants subsequently returned to Moroccan territory.

In Colombia, President Abelardo de la Espriella held a call with U.S. President Donald Trump to request a temporary suspension of high tariffs on Colombian products. De la Espriella noted the request was intended to support Colombian businesses facing economic difficulties following a recent earthquake.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that the supply of U.S. weapons to Ukraine via Turkey undermines diplomatic relations with Moscow. Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that such actions contradict the pacifist rhetoric of countries seeking a political solution and damage mutual trust between Russia, Washington, and Ankara.
