Peru foreign tourists spend USD 1,232 on average per trip

According to the 2025 Foreign Tourist Profile released by PROMPERÚ, international visitors to Peru spent an average of USD 1,232 per trip, excluding international airfare, and stayed for an average of 10 nights.

The study highlights a shift in tourism recovery; while international arrivals have reached 78% of pre-pandemic levels, the foreign exchange generated by tourism at the end of 2025 was 14% higher than 2019 levels. This indicates an increase in the value generated per visitor.

Key travel habits identified include 84% of tourists booking services less than four months in advance and 67% contracting services individually. Primary activities for visitors include gastronomy (98%) and cultural experiences (96%), followed by shopping (87%), entertainment (76%), nature (52%), and adventure (46%).

Teresa Mera Gómez, executive president of PROMPERÚ, stated that the organization is focusing on attracting travelers who stay longer and visit more destinations to differentiate Peru in international markets.
