Peru fuel prices surge up to 30% amid Middle East conflict

Petroperú and Repsol adjusted their wholesale fuel price lists on 23 July, raising diesel B5 by 21.4% to S/21.02 per gallon and setting Repsol’s price at S/22.59 per gallon, a 30.5% increase – the highest recorded level. Gasohol regular and premium also rose about 7%, reaching S/16.37 and S/16.91 per gallon respectively. The adjustments follow renewed volatility in global oil markets caused by heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, which have pushed international crude prices higher.

In Arequipa, a Petroperú station on the border of the Mariano Melgar, Miraflores and Paucarpata districts reported a cumulative price rise of roughly S/0.70 per gallon between 23 July and 24 July. Regular gasoline was priced at S/17.89, premium at S/18.89, and Ultra diesel at S/22.15 per gallon. The increase was applied gradually over the week and mirrors similar trends observed in other Peruvian regions.
