The Peruvian Senate has approved a measure granting the Executive branch delegated legislative powers for a period of 90 days. The decision, passed with 35 votes in favor, 18 against, and 6 abstentions, covers 27 specific points focused on two primary areas: public security and the El Niño phenomenon.

In terms of public security, the Executive is authorized to legislate on migratory control, firearm regulation, criminal investigation, and reforms to the national penitentiary system. The measure also includes provisions for the exceptional participation of the Armed Forces in the external security of high-risk prisons and the implementation of supervised release for certain convicts. Additionally, the powers include strengthening the National Intelligence Directorate (DINI) and addressing cybercrime, extortion, and organized crime.

Regarding the El Niño phenomenon, the delegation allows for expedited humanitarian aid delivery, support for agricultural producers, and the simplification of procedures for critical infrastructure projects to mitigate climate-related disasters.
