Peru highlights culinary diversity through ENBHIGA 2026 and global food trends
Peru is set to host the ENBHIGA Perú ÍCONOS 2026 event from August 31 to September 6, showcasing the nation's gastronomic, cultural, and touristic diversity. The event will feature various regional specialties: Tarapoto will focus on Amazonian flavors, cacao, and coffee; Lima will highlight its status as a culinary capital; Pucusana will represent coastal seafood; and Pisco and Paracas will showcase marine products and pisco culture. The event aims to connect chefs, producers, and tourism professionals with international visitors from Argentina, Chile, and Spain.
In a separate development regarding digital culinary trends, Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos has announced a potential expansion of his popular food competitions. Following the success of the 2025 Breakfast World Cup, where Peru's 'pan con chicharrón' won against Venezuela with millions of votes, Llanos is considering a new tournament focused on a country's primary dishes. This would allow iconic Peruvian dishes such as ceviche and lomo saltado to compete on a global stage.
