Peru hosts 2026 FISU America Games and finishes third in medal tally

The fourth edition of the FISU America Games was held in Lima, Peru, from early August 2026. Over 13 days, more than 3,000 university athletes from 17 nations competed in 19 sports at venues including the Videna complex and the Villa El Salvador sports center. Peru, the host nation, concluded the tournament in third place on the overall medal table with 151 medals.

University of Northern Iowa athletes also made the podium: senior runner Colin Lillie earned silver in the men’s 10,000 metres, while alumna Amelia Hill took silver in the women’s 3,000‑metre steeplechase. Their performances added to the United States’ medal haul and highlighted the event’s role as a showcase for emerging collegiate talent ahead of the 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games in Lima.
