Peru introduces multisectoral National Security and Defense Policy to 2030

Peru has introduced the new Multisectoral National Security and Defense Policy to 2030, which shifts the national security framework from a purely military perspective to a broader approach. This new strategy incorporates political, social, and economic dimensions to address modern threats.

The policy aims to tackle diverse challenges including organized crime, citizen insecurity, corruption, illegal mining, and natural disasters. By coordinating responses across different state sectors, the plan seeks to reduce vulnerabilities affecting the population's well-being.

The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (MINJUSDH) plays a key role within the National Defense Council, ensuring that security measures are implemented within a legal framework that respects fundamental human rights.
