Peru launches third aerial health outreach serving 8,000 in Loreto's Amazon communities

From 3 August to 1 September, Peru's Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) will operate its third PIAS Aérea campaign in the Amazonian provinces of Datem del Marañón, Loreto, Requena and Putumayo. Using a Twin Otter aircraft from the Peruvian Air Force, 12 professionals will deliver more than 15 000 medical, social and economic services to over 8 000 residents of 40 native communities, including obstetrics, nursing, laboratory work, paediatric care, psychology, identity document issuance and financial inclusion.

The effort is coordinated with eight other agencies and aims to strengthen state presence in remote areas, assess household socio‑economic conditions and connect locals to national social programmes.
