Peru Minister Marco Vinelli addresses food supply and Amazon development

During the Expo Amazónica 2026 in Pucallpa, Peru’s Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Marco Vinelli, outlined a long-term development vision for the Amazon region aimed at the year 2055. The plan focuses on five key transformations intended to close social gaps, improve road and digital connectivity, increase agricultural value-added production, and foster a competitive, sustainable economy that protects natural resources.

Separately, Minister Vinelli addressed concerns regarding food security in Lima, stating that there is no shortage of food in markets. He noted that approximately 8,000 tons of food enter the capital's markets daily. Vinelli attributed rising food prices to increased production and transportation costs, specifically citing higher fuel prices, rather than scarcity, while also criticizing market speculation.
