Peru Ministry of Education proposes new school discipline guidelines
The Peruvian Ministry of Education has released a draft proposal for public consultation regarding new guidelines for managing school discipline. Published on October 12 as Ministerial Resolution No. 613-2026-MINEDU, the project aims to reintroduce numerical grades for student conduct and establish a classification system for offenses.
The proposed measures include disciplinary actions such as suspensions and, in specific circumstances, permanent removal from educational institutions. The initiative seeks to address concerns regarding teacher safety and student well-being by establishing clearer rules and effective intervention protocols within schools.
