Peru Ministry of Education reschedules teacher promotion exam

The Peruvian Ministry of Education (Minedu) has rescheduled the 2026 National Teacher Promotion Exam for the second time. The examination, which involves more than 162,000 basic education teachers, will now take place on Sunday, November 8, instead of the previously announced date of October 25.

The rescheduling was formalized through viceministerial resolution N.° 173-2026-MINEDU. According to the Ministry, the adjustment is intended to ensure all necessary operational preparations are completed to guarantee the proper administration of the test across all enabled sites nationwide.

Despite the change in date, the validity of the promotions remains unaffected. Teachers who successfully secure a vacancy will ascend to a new magisterial scale starting March 1, 2027. This process allows educators to improve their remuneration and qualify for positions of greater responsibility. An updated list of evaluation locations is scheduled to be published on October 26.
