Peru Ministry of Energy and Mines announces three plans to modernize electrical system

Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) is developing three key instruments to modernize the national electrical system and promote renewable energy.

According to Vice Minister of Electricity Luis Santillán, these initiatives include the 2027-2036 Transmission Plan, which aims to determine the infrastructure required for the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) over the next decade. Additionally, the government is working on the National Integrated Energy Plan to model the country's complete energy matrix, including gas, hydrocarbons, and renewables, to ensure supply security and decarbonization.

A third component, the Provincial Plan for Efficient Use of Electric Energy, focuses on local management to optimize electricity consumption in public lighting, commerce, and industry.
