Peru Ministry of Housing holds training for rural water management
The Peruvian Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation (MVCS), in collaboration with the National Civil Service Authority (Servir), held a virtual conference focused on the sustainable management of rural water and sanitation services. The initiative aimed to strengthen the capabilities of Municipal Technical Areas (ATM) to ensure long-term service sustainability.
Through the National Rural Sanitation Program (PNSR) and the National School of Public Administration (ENAP), the session included 188 participants from 96 districts across 18 prioritized departments. Discussions centered on improving the management of communal organizations and Sanitation Service Management Boards (JASS). Minister Mauricio Arnillas emphasized that ensuring access to water requires more than just infrastructure execution; it requires ensuring services function adequately and sustainably over time.
