Peru mobile number portability reaches historic record

Peru's mobile number portability reached a historic record in August, according to the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (OSIPTEL). A total of 567,151 mobile lines switched operators while maintaining their original numbers, marking a 3.03% increase from July.

The growth was primarily driven by the postpaid segment, which saw 451,029 portations—the highest level recorded since the relaunch of the portability system in July 2014. Postpaid portations accounted for 79.53% of the total monthly activity. In contrast, the prepaid segment recorded just over 112,000 portations.

In terms of market competition, Claro led with a positive net balance of 39,755 lines. Entel also saw growth with a positive balance of 9,462 lines. Conversely, Movistar and Bitel experienced net losses, with Movistar losing 22,416 lines and Bitel recording the largest deficit with 26,836 lines.
