Peru prepares for 2026 regional and municipal elections

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) is finalizing preparations for the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections scheduled for October 4. In Lima Metropolitana and Callao, the district of Comas is among the five areas with the highest number of eligible voters, with 448,797 citizens. Other high-density districts include San Juan de Lurigancho (818,369), San Martín de Porres (533,871), Ate (493,114), and Callao (395,986).

To manage the high turnout in Comas, the Decentralized Office of Electoral Processes (ODPE) Lima Norte 2 plans to establish 144 polling stations and 1,499 voting tables.

In the Cusco region, more than 38,000 young people will be voting for the first time. This group includes 19,624 males and 19,245 females across the provinces of Cusco, Anta, and Paruro. Specifically, the province of Cusco accounts for 32,232 first-time voters, Anta for 4,228, and Paruro for 2,409. The ODPE Cusco intends to enable 166 polling locations and 1,547 voting tables to accommodate these voters.
