Peru President Keiko Fujimori raises minimum wage to S/1,300

President Keiko Fujimori announced a 15 % increase in Peru’s minimum wage, raising the Remuneración Mínima Vital from S/1,130 to S/1,300 per month. The pledge was made during her inaugural Mensaje a la Nación on 28 July 2026, the day she was sworn in for the 2026‑2031 term.

The increase will be accompanied by a one‑time compensatory bonus for micro and small enterprises (MYPES) to help them absorb the higher labour costs and encourage formal employment. No specific implementation date or bonus amount was disclosed at the time of the announcement.

The measure follows a prior rise to S/1,130 that was set by former President Dina Boluarte in December 2024. The government presented the wage hike as part of a broader economic agenda that also includes a doubling of the Pensión 65 benefit for the elderly in extreme poverty.
