Peru promotes travel discounts and showcases traditional desserts for Fiestas Patrias

Perú's tourism agency PromPerú launched the "Y tú qué planes" campaign ahead of the Fiestas Patrias holidays, offering around 70 discounted travel packages to 20 regions with prices starting at 45 soles. The promotion includes an immersive Arequipa experience at Jockey Plaza and involves travel agencies, tour operators and gastronomic associations. PromPerú highlighted a sustained recovery in domestic tourism since the pandemic, noting that 1.8 million Peruvians traveled last year and expecting a higher turnout during the long holiday.

Alongside the travel push, popular Peruvian sweets are highlighted as essential to the celebrations. Classic desserts such as mazamorra morada, ranfañote, turrón de Doña Pepa, ponderaciones and huevo chimbo are described with their traditional ingredients and preparation methods, reflecting the culinary heritage that accompanies the national festivities.
