Peru recovers S/ 380 million in Lava Jato civil reparations

The Peruvian State has collected S/ 380 million in civil reparations related to the Lava Jato corruption cases, according to Carlos Fernández Muñoz, the acting ad hoc public prosecutor. These funds, consolidated as of June 30, 2026, stem from 33 final judicial sentences that established total indemnities exceeding S/ 1,542 million for damages caused to the state.

The legal proceedings involve six companies and 56 individuals, linked to various public infrastructure projects including the Lima Metro Line 1, the Costa Verde Callao, the Interoceanic South Highway (sections 2, 3, and 4), the Cusco Bypass, the Southern Peruvian Gas Pipeline, and the Yellow Line.

Fernández noted that most defendants are effective collaborators who are currently meeting their payment schedules. The Prosecutor's Office is also managing 189 complex cases where precautionary attachments exceeding S/ 3 billion have been requested to secure future payments. Projections suggest the state could collect an additional S/ 76 million by the end of 2026, with total collections potentially surpassing S/ 652 million by 2029.
