Peru regional infrastructure projects face technical and geological challenges

Various regional infrastructure and educational projects in Peru are undergoing technical reviews or entering new phases of development.

In Huánuco, the Regional Government (Gorehco) identified nearly 2,000 deficiencies in the new Illathupa school building. The executing consortium has been granted 45 days, until November 6, to rectify issues ranging from finishings to damaged components. The project will not be officially received until these standards are met.

In the Huamalíes province, the Dialogue Table reported progress on several major works. Provías Descentralizado is scheduled to begin the 65-kilometer Culquish – Chavín de Pariarca – Tantamayo – Carpa road improvement project on October 12, with a budget of S/ 84.4 million. Additionally, a massive S/ 800 million road project involving the Tingo Chico – Llata – Antamina route is moving through the technical evaluation phase, funded via the 'Works for Taxes' (OxI) model by Antamina.

Meanwhile, in Ayacucho, the Tiquihua-Pumarumi highway project faces challenges due to recurring landslides. The S/ 13.17 million project requires an additional budget of approximately S/ 1 million and further geological studies to stabilize affected sections and ensure user safety.
