Peru: Regulatory sanctions issued against travel agency and BBVA

In Cusco, the Regional Management of Foreign Trade, Tourism and Handicrafts (Gercetur) has canceled the operating authorization of Yaku Excursions and Travel S. R. L. for three years. The decision follows inspections revealing that the agency was operating in violation of minimum regulatory conditions by sharing a physical location in the Historic Center of Cusco with unrelated commercial activities, such as the sale of handicrafts and telephone chips.

Separately, Indecopi has upheld a fine of S/27,500 against BBVA Perú. The sanction was issued after the bank prevented a customer from accessing the physical Complaints Book to file a claim in person, instead attempting to redirect them to virtual or telephone channels. Indecopi ruled that providing digital channels does not exempt providers from ensuring in-person access and assistance for consumer complaints within their establishments.
