Peru reports multiple fires across Arequipa, Lima, and Caylloma
Multiple fire incidents have been reported across various regions in Peru, causing property damage and affecting residents.
In the Arequipa region, a major forest fire in the Cerro Lojojoy sector of the Toro district has destroyed approximately 500 hectares of vegetation and eight houses. While the fire has reached 85% control, authorities remain on alert due to difficult terrain and strong winds. A second fire was also reported in the Quechualla district, primarily affecting natural grasslands.
In the Majes district of Caylloma, a fire involving 700 bales of hay threatened nearby homes and livestock. Local residents assisted firefighters in containing the blaze, which was allegedly caused by two students.
In Lima, a residential fire in the La Victoria district consumed two floors of a multi-family home. Three people, including two elderly individuals, were treated for smoke inhalation, though no fatalities or burn injuries were reported.
