Peru Senate elects three new Central Reserve Bank directors

The Peruvian Senate has elected three new directors to the Board of Directors of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) for the 2026-2031 term. The elected economists are Oswaldo Molina Campodónico, who received 40 votes; José Ricardo Stok Capella, with 33 votes; and Juan José Marthans León, with 36 votes.

All three candidates surpassed the absolute majority of 31 votes required by the Constitution. The election follows a technical report from the Senate's Special Procedures Commission, which had ranked the candidates based on merit. Despite higher technical scores, candidates José Antonio Fernández Baca Llamosas and Santiago Francisco Roca Tavella failed to secure enough votes to be appointed.

These three new members complete the seven-member board, joining President Julio Velarde and the three members previously appointed by the Executive Branch: Inés Marylin Choy Chong, Luis Miguel Palomino Bonilla, and Gustavo Yamada Fukusaki.
