Peru tennis team prepares for Davis Cup clash against Paraguay

The Peruvian national tennis team is set to face Paraguay in the Davis Cup World Group I on September 18 and 19 at the Jockey Club del Perú. The matches will be played on outdoor clay courts, with tickets for both days already sold out.

Peruvian captain Luis Horna expressed high confidence in the current roster, which includes Ignacio Buse, Gonzalo Bueno, Juan Pablo Varillas, Arklon Huertas del Pino, and Alexander Merino. Horna stated that, based on individual rankings and age, this may be the best generation in the history of Peruvian tennis.

Ignacio Buse, currently ranked 35th in the ATP, noted that the increased spectator capacity—moving from 2,000 to approximately 4,000 people—will create a significant atmosphere. Paraguay will be led by Daniel Vallejo, the highest-ranked player on their squad, alongside Martín Vergara, Hernando Escurra, and Álvaro Frutos under captain Paulo Carvallo.
