Peru to overhaul National Stadium for 2027 Pan American Games

The Peruvian Institute of Sports (IPD) announced a comprehensive renovation of Lima’s National Stadium ahead of the 2027 Pan American and Parapan American Games. The project, funded through a cooperation agreement with the National Infrastructure Authority (ANIN), will invest more than 145 million soles to expand seating capacity to 50,000, install a natural‑grass pitch meeting CONMEBOL and FIFA standards, and upgrade lighting, security systems, signage, restrooms and the façade.

IPD president Sergio Ludeña Visalot said the works are "a firm and decisive step toward the success of the Games" and will leave a legacy for future generations. The agreement also covers upgrades to other strategic venues, including the Coliseo Eduardo Dibós, Las Palmas Air Base, the Callao Regional Sports Village, the Army Equestrian School, a new tennis centre, a climbing area and Peru’s first cricket field.
