Peru Vice Minister of Mines calls trust a key growth indicator

Mayra Figueroa, the Vice Minister of Mines for Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), emphasized the strategic importance of trust during the closing of the International Meeting on Social Management and Sustainability (GESS 2026).

Figueroa stated that trust should be managed as a key indicator of growth rather than merely a tool for crisis management. She warned that distrust severely impacts low-income areas and that corruption erodes the relationship between the State and its citizens, hindering effective decision-making.

To address these challenges, Figueroa called for institutions to strengthen dialogue and translate it into firm commitments and decisions based on stable consensus. She also highlighted social innovation as a vital pillar for achieving real and sustainable development within various territories.
