Peru weather: Strong winds and flooding cause damage in Huánuco and Ica

Severe weather conditions, including strong winds and flooding, have caused damage across several regions in Peru. In Huánuco, heavy gusts damaged homes, a local cafeteria, and the technical forestry administration office, while also causing electrical failures. In the Leoncio Prado district, three homes were affected, leaving eight people displaced. Additionally, flooding from the Megote River in the Paraíso area of the Marañón district inundated four homes, affecting 12 people.

In the Ica region, Senamhi reported wind speeds reaching up to 46 km/h in Paracas, Pisco, and Ica. These winds have caused significant dust and sand lifting, reducing visibility for transporters on the Santa Cruz to Paracas route. Authorities have advised the population to secure precarious roofs, use masks, and exercise caution while driving or near advertising panels as moderate winds are expected to continue through Saturday.
