Perugia and Pisa adopt new local regulations

The Perugia city council approved resolution 244 on 22 May 2026, consolidating existing night‑time rules in the historic centre. The measure bans outdoor music after midnight, prohibits alcohol service after 1:30 am (midnight in the Fontivegge area), bans glass and metal containers after 20:00, and maintains the ban on opening new discotheques in the centre. The only exemption remains the 110 Café, granted a derogation in 2013. Mayor Vittoria Ferdinandi presented the rules as a response to confusion following the Crans‑Montana New‑Year tragedy. The council also formalised Nightbus routes and extended the minimetro’s last service to 1:05 am (up to 2:45 am for special events).

The Pisa municipal council voted on 25 June to adopt a regulation protecting historic shops and “proximity establishments of collective interest”. The rule creates a register for businesses operating for at least 40 years (historic shops) or 20 years (EPIC) that meet social‑cohesion and service criteria. Recognised entities will receive the “Bottega storica” prize, promotion in city itineraries and eligibility for future incentives. assessor Paolo Pesciatini highlighted the measure as a tool to sustain local commerce, strengthen community ties and support urban regeneration projects.
