Alessandro Gaucci launches new era at Perugia Calcio
The Italian club Perugia Calcio has completed a change of ownership, with the Arena Curi group taking control and Alessandro Gaucci, son of former patron Luciano Gaucci, appointed as president. Gaucci announced a rapid rebuild of the squad, aiming to have a competitive team ready by early March and pledging further investment if results improve.
Aimo Diana has been hired as head coach on a contract through June 2028, replacing Giovanni Tedesco. Diana, a former Serie A player and experienced Serie C manager, will lead the team with a staff that includes Emanuele Filippini, Esteban Gabriel Jesus Anitua and Alessandro Belleri. The club has already secured several player signings, including Ettore Quirini and Giuseppe Carriero from Salernitana, and plans to add more players before the transfer window closes. Former director Hernan Borras confirmed the new governance structure, stating that while he remains the legal representative, all strategic decisions will be signed off by Gaucci. The new leadership emphasizes ideas over budget, seeking to restore fan attendance and achieve future success.
