Perugia mascot dog Francesco found alive after disappearance

Francesco, a well-known mixed-breed dog and local mascot in Perugia, has been found alive after disappearing on October 14. The dog, recognizable by a watch attached to his paw, had become a familiar figure in the city's historic center.

Following his disappearance, a spontaneous community search was mobilized via social media and local appeals. On Sunday, October 18, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Francesco was located in the Lacugnana area on via del Righetello.

Upon his discovery, the dog was found to be exhausted and was immediately transported to the university veterinary hospital for medical assistance. Francesco belongs to Italo, a local man experiencing homelessness, whose personal struggles had also drawn attention during the search efforts.
