Perugia Province mandates winter tires and snow chains

The Province of Perugia has announced a mandatory requirement for winter tires or snow chains for motor vehicles traveling on specific regional and provincial roads. The mandate is scheduled to run from November 15, 2026, to April 15, 2027.

This regulation excludes two-wheeled mopeds, motorcycles, and bicycles. The measure aims to mitigate risks associated with heavy snowfall and frost, which can cause traffic blockages and hinder emergency services, snow removal, and salt spreading operations. The affected routes include various sections of the SP 100, SP 103, SP 105, SP 142, and several other provincial roads throughout the province.
