Perugia summer center concludes inclusive educational program

The Lucignolo summer center in Perugia has concluded its educational program, a project organized by the social enterprise Baldo&Riccia. Since 2020, the initiative has focused on using nature and multifunctional agriculture to foster curiosity and social inclusion in children.

Since 2023, the center has been part of the Municipality of Perugia’s network of supported summer programs, specifically designed to welcome children with disabilities in coordination with the USL Umbria 1 child neuropsychiatry service. This year, the project received additional support from the Umbria Region through a European social fund aimed at ensuring access to summer activities for minors with disabilities.

The program utilizes a rural setting that includes a didactic farm, an agritourism facility, and a specialized center for animal-assisted interventions, which is officially authorized as a healthcare structure by the Umbria Region’s Health and Welfare Directorate. Educational activities include art and cooking workshops, gardening, motor skills exercises, and therapeutic interactions with animals such as dogs and donkeys to promote socialization and emotional management.
