Perujazz to hold farewell concert marking 40 years of musical fusion
Several musical events and milestones are taking place across Latin America. Perujazz, a group known for fusing jazz with Peruvian afro-descendant and Andean rhythms, will perform its farewell concert, ‘Perujazz – 40 años de fusión viva’, on October 15 at the Gran Teatro Nacional in Lima. Founded in 1984, the group’s current members, including Manongo Mujica and Jean Pierre Magnet, will continue their individual musical careers following the conclusion of this collective stage.
In Argentina, the second edition of the San Nicolás Jazz Festival is scheduled for October 3 and 4, featuring artists such as Escalandrum and Julieta Rada Trío, with special tributes to Miles Davis. Additionally, the Sinfónica Andina will perform a free concert titled ‘Vientos de encuentro’ in Jujuy, featuring the Ecuadorian ensemble Takiksapa to celebrate Andean musical integration. In Uruguay, the international orchestra TEMPO will perform a program featuring Vivaldi and Piazzolla at the Teatro Español.
In Ecuador, the Ecuador Jazz 2026 festival concludes with a performance by Peruvian artist Susana Baca at the Teatro Nacional Sucre in Quito, showcasing Afro-Peruvian traditions.
