PERUMIN 38 mining convention to focus on regional development

The PERUMIN 38 mining convention is scheduled to take place from September 20 to 24, 2027, at the Cerro Juli Fairgrounds in Arequipa. Organized by the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP), the event will operate under the theme ‘Integration and formalization for regional development.’

According to Víctor Gobitz, president of PERUMIN 38, the focus has shifted from merely demonstrating Peru’s geological potential to creating the necessary conditions to transform mineral resources into concrete opportunities for regional growth.

The convention will address two primary challenges: strengthening coordination between the state, private companies, academia, and society, and advancing the formalization of small-scale miners to integrate them into the formal economy. The event also plans to incorporate decentralization into its exhibition areas to facilitate better interaction among participants.
