Peru sets July 2026 public sector bonus and private sector gratuity rules

The Peruvian government issued Supreme Decree No. 128‑2026‑EF establishing a S/300 aguinaldo for public‑sector workers and pensioners to be paid in July 2026 as part of the Fiestas Patrias celebrations. Eligibility requires being on the payroll as of 30 June 2026 and having at least three months of service. The payment will be made in a single installment together with the July payroll.

For private‑sector employees, the July 2026 gratificación amounts to one month's salary for those who worked continuously from January to June, with proportional payments for shorter service. An estimated S/10 000 million will be distributed nationwide. The bonus is exempt from AFP contributions and income‑tax withholding, and an additional 9 % (EsSalud affiliates) or 6.75 % (EPS affiliates) is added under Law 30334. Employers who fail to pay on time face fines ranging from 0.45 to 26.12 UIT, depending on company size.

Scotiabank Peru reports that many recipients use the extra income to repay loans, save, or fund planned purchases, with advance loan payments up 29.4 % in July 2025 compared with June. The bank advises planning the allocation of the gratuity toward debt reduction, savings, and essential expenses.
