Peru's FIL Lima 2026 Opens with Ecuador as Guest of Honor

The 30th edition of the Feria Internacional del Libro (FIL) Lima opened on 22 July at the Centro de Exposiciones Jockey in Surco, Peru, and will run until 6 August. More than 600 cultural activities are scheduled, and Ecuador is participating as the Guest of Honor. The inaugural ceremony was led by Ricardo Muguerza Terrones, president of the Cámara Peruana del Libro, and attended by officials from both Peru and Ecuador, including the Peruvian Culture Minister and the Ecuadorian Vice‑Minister of Culture. Musical performances featured the Peruvian Navy band and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Loja.

Among the exhibitors, the family‑run Peruvian brand LA1110 showcased a range of reader‑focused accessories at the non‑fiction sector stand, including book and Kindle covers, tote bags, magnetic page separators, pins, and mugs. The company emphasizes handcrafted production and avoids artificial‑intelligence‑generated illustrations, highlighting its origin story from a homemade book cover in 2017 and its continued presence at the fair since 2023.
