Peru's Grace Commission rejects ex‑President Pedro Castillo's pardon request

Peru's Presidential Grace Commission held its ordinary session on 10 June 2026 and evaluated the humanitarian grace and common pardon applications submitted by former president José Pedro Castillo Terrones. The commission found the humanitarian request inadmissible because the required corrections were not made within the twenty‑day deadline, and it also declared the common pardon request non‑compliant with admissibility rules. Consequently, both applications were archived. The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights affirmed that the decision follows the commission’s internal regulations and underscored its commitment to objective, impartial action in line with the Constitution and applicable law.
