Peru's JNE to decide fate of La Libertad regional governor candidacies

The National Jury of Elections (JNE) will hold a virtual hearing on Monday to rule on an appeal by Patricia Bolaños Grau, the Renovación Popular candidate for the La Libertad regional governorship. The appeal follows a prior decision that declared her ticket improper because the party submitted only three campesino‑representative candidates for Pataz instead of the required four, citing a material error in the registration form.

Separately, the Special Electoral Jury of Trujillo (JEET) dismissed a challenge against the Podemos Perú list headed by Elías Rodríguez Zavaleta, confirming that the list complies with party statutes and electoral law. The ruling allows Rodríguez to remain in the race for the regional governor position in the October 4 elections.
