Peru's JNE to host 25 regional debates for 2026 elections
The National Jury of Elections (JNE) has scheduled a series of 25 regional debates to promote informed voting ahead of the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections. These debates will take place in all regional capitals across Peru, including the Constitutional Province of Callao, between September 8 and September 19.
The cycle aims to provide a democratic platform for candidates for regional governors to present their government plans and proposals for the 2027-2030 period. The debates will be broadcast live via regional open television, streaming services, the ‘Voto Informado’ web platform, and the JNE’s social media channels.
Specific regions such as Piura, Lambayeque, Madre de Dios, and Lima Provincias will host debates over two separate dates due to the high number of participating political organizations. The schedule begins in Junín on September 8 and concludes in Amazonas on September 19.
