Peru's Juntos program aids 767,000 vulnerable households

The Juntos programme, administered by Peru's Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), has supported 767,448 households living in poverty or extreme poverty during 2024. Beneficiaries receive a bi‑monthly cash transfer of S/200, conditioned on meeting health and education responsibilities for children. The initiative focuses on early‑life health, with 459,902 households receiving personalised support to ensure prenatal care, timely child health check‑ups, vaccination and nutrition, aiming to prevent anemia and child malnutrition. An educational component, “Juntos for a life without anemia”, will reach 15,447 mothers across 706 districts in 2026. Scholarships have enabled 687 students from programme families to pursue higher education, while 625 family‑run enterprises have received assistance to boost productive activities and income. The programme operates in 1,883 districts, including Amazon, Apurímac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Ica and La Libertad.
