Peru's Lima and Ayacucho Book Fairs Expand Cultural Programs in 2026

The 30th edition of the Lima International Book Fair (FIL Lima) introduced a new partnership with the Centre for National Studies (CAEN), which set up a dedicated space to discuss security, education, health, environment and development. CAEN director Brigadier General Miguel Kuan emphasised the need for public dialogue on security, while the Peruvian Book Chamber highlighted the fair’s role in fostering citizenship through literature.

The Ayacucho International Book Fair (FILAY) marked its tenth anniversary, featuring the second International Novel Prize won by Raúl Bravo for "La puerta que detuvo la muerte" and a national short‑story prize. The fair held events in regional venues such as Quinua and a visit to the Yanamilla prison, and hosted international guests from the Dominican Republic, Argentina and Cuba, reinforcing efforts to decentralise Peruvian literature.
