Peru's Midis implements new strategies for social program autonomy

Peru's Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) is implementing several initiatives aimed at fostering economic autonomy and professional development for beneficiaries of social programs.

In collaboration with Women in Mining Peru (WIM Peru), Midis is promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers among young women in social programs. Through mentorships, the initiative seeks to enhance female talent and employability to help users escape poverty. This program, which has already worked with the Juntos program, may be expanded to more beneficiaries.

Additionally, Midis is working with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to redesign social strategies. The goal is to transition users from state assistance toward sustainable economic independence by incorporating international best practices and improving the efficacy of social interventions.

Separately, the Juntos program received recognition from Ciudadanos al Día for three specific public management practices: improving early childhood health services, implementing digital birth registration in rural areas of Cajamarca, and utilizing a bilingual chatbot (Spanish and Quechua) to improve citizen communication.
