Peru's MINEM convenes electricity distributors to improve service and expand networks

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) held a dialogue with representatives of Peruvian electricity distribution companies, led by Vice Minister of Electricity Luis Santillán. The meeting addressed challenges such as investment needs, network expansion, digitalisation, smart‑meter implementation, service quality, continuity and user complaint handling, especially in remote areas.

MINEM said the discussion will shape a work agenda to assess proposals, prioritize actions for modernising distribution, expanding coverage in urban and rural zones, attracting new investment and strengthening the financial and regulatory framework of the sector.
