Peru's Ministry of Education reschedules teacher promotion exam
Peru's Ministry of Education (Minedu) has rescheduled the national exam for the Public Magisterial Career promotion process. Due to operational and logistical complications regarding service contracting, the national test originally planned for September 13 will now take place on October 25, 2026.
The evaluation will be administered across 50 locations nationwide and is expected to involve more than 162,000 Basic Regular Education teachers. This includes educators working in public institutions associated with the Ministries of Defense and Interior. Following the exam, preliminary results are scheduled for publication on November 5, 2026, with a claims period opening on November 6.
Teachers who successfully pass the process will receive salary increases and professional advancements effective March 1, 2027. For those on a 30-hour workweek, monthly income will range between S/ 3,850 and S/ 7,351, while 40-hour workweek teachers can expect between S/ 5,134 and S/ 9,801. Higher scales also grant eligibility for management and leadership roles within the decentralized educational system.
