Peru's Ministry of Labor relaunches Fondoempleo with 120 million soles

The Peruvian Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) has announced the relaunch of Fondoempleo, allocating 120 million soles for 2027 to fund scholarships and labor training initiatives. The program will adopt a territorial approach, prioritizing training based on the specific demands of regional productive sectors, such as mining, energy, logistics, and technology.

Minister Juan Sheput stated the initiative aims to provide opportunities for talented youth and workers who lack the financial resources to strengthen their professional competencies. The training will target high-demand fields, including artificial intelligence, data analysis, and automation.

In a related effort, Teck Zafranal and the MTPE have renewed an alliance to provide training for 545 people in the Arequipa region. This program, executed through the Jóvenes Productivos program, will offer certification and technical assistance in sectors such as tourism, construction, and agroindustry through December 2026.
