Peru's Produce Ministry to invest over S/35 million in modernizing Chupaca market

The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) announced a modernization project for the Mercado Modelo de Chupaca in the Junín region, allocating more than S/35 million. The upgrade will replace a 60‑year‑old structure with a new facility containing 300 sales stalls, refrigerated chambers, a food court, a lactarium, security systems, parking and solid‑waste management.

Minister Juan Carlos Requejo said the financing is secured and the public bidding process began on 4 August. Construction is slated to start in the last quarter of the year, aiming to serve over 16,000 local residents by improving access to essential goods in safer, more sanitary conditions.
