Peru's Transport Ministry and Lima Region Launch 1,200 km of Road Upgrades
The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and the Lima regional government signed two cooperation agreements to develop over 1,200 kilometres of feeder road corridors (CVA 27 and CVA 28) under the Proregión II program. CVA 27 will manage, improve and maintain 711.85 km of roads in the provinces of Lima, Huarochirí, Cañete, Canta and Yauyos, while CVA 28 covers more than 504 km linking Lima, Ica and Huancavelica. The projects, financed by the CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean for CVA 27 and the Inter‑American Development Bank for CVA 28, aim to shorten travel times, lower transport costs, improve safety and support economic development for thousands of families.
Separately, the Puno regional government began paving an 18.5‑km section of the PU‑1233 highway between Ilave and Totorani. The work includes a six‑metre‑wide carriageway, side berms and 33 concrete culverts to ensure drainage during heavy rains. The project, carried out under direct administration, is intended to strengthen connectivity between the provinces of Puno and El Collao, reduce travel times and promote regional growth.
