Peru's youth teams shine in volleyball and tennis championships

In the Provincial Volleyball League of Arequipa, four district teams – José Luis Bustamante y Rivero, Yanahuara, Cayma and Paucarpata – have emerged as frontrunners in the U‑15 Girls tournament. Bustamante defeated Alto Selva Alegre 2‑0, Yanahuara beat Mariano Melgar 2‑0, Cayma overcame Characato 2‑1 after dropping the first set, and Paucarpata won 2‑0 over Cerro Colorado. The teams remain unbeaten and will clash in key matches on July 4, which could decide the championship leader.

Meanwhile, the Peruvian delegation excelled at the South American U‑12 Tennis Championships in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The women's squad – Ana Camila Mannucci, Vicka Lanatta and Luciana Díaz, captained by Mariana Demichelli – won the title by beating Brazil 2‑0. The men's team – Mijael Bandach, Ignacio Checa and Facundo Llerena, led by captain Camilo Lázaro – finished as runners‑up. Federation president Mario Monroy said, "This result fills us with pride because it confirms that Peruvian tennis not only enjoys a good professional moment but also has a talented youth base with great potential." Both squads will next compete in the COSAT Sub‑12 Cup in Lima.
