Peruvian athletes achieve international success in water skiing and marathon

Peruvian athletes have achieved significant international success in water skiing and long-distance running.

Water skier Cristhiana de Osma earned three medals at the California Pro Am in the United States. Competing in the Open Women Slalom category, she secured a silver medal, following a close competition with American athlete Regina Jaquess. She also earned a silver and a bronze medal in the Junior category, bringing her total to eight international medals for the 2026 season. De Osma is currently preparing for the Odesur Games in Argentina.

Marathon runner Cristhian Pacheco was honored by the Instituto Peruano del Deporte (IPD) following his victory at the 2026 Mexico City Marathon. Pacheco completed the 42.195-kilometer course in 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 3 seconds. The IPD president, Óscar Fernández Cáceres, recognized Pacheco's achievement and reaffirmed the institution's support through the Lima 2027 Program and the Athlete Support Program (PAD).
