Peruvian candidates present platforms for Ventanilla and Arequipa elections

Various political candidates in Peru are presenting their profiles and proposals ahead of upcoming elections.

In Ventanilla, Luis Landauro, representing Somos Perú, has proposed the ‘Attraction of Private Universities with Social Rates’ program. The initiative aims to facilitate the installation of private university campuses by providing municipal land or infrastructure through legal cooperation mechanisms. In exchange, these institutions would offer preferential tuition rates and scholarships to local residents, focusing on careers with high labor demand in the Callao region.

In Arequipa, Renzo Salas, the current district mayor of Sachaca, is running for the Provincial Municipality of Arequipa. An economist with a doctorate, Salas has experience in both the private sector and public administration. His tenure in Sachaca has included infrastructure and health projects, though his administration has faced allegations from a local councilwoman regarding harassment, which he has denied.

Additionally, José Luis Ancalle Gutiérrez is campaigning for the Regional Government of Arequipa under the Alianza Electoral Venceremos. A former congressman and lawyer, Ancalle previously served in various regional administrative roles and has a legislative background focused on social inclusion and teacher benefits.
