Peruvian candidates propose security and infrastructure reforms

Local political candidates in Peru are proposing various strategies to combat rising crime and improve urban infrastructure.

In San Isidro, Somos Perú candidate Víctor Bazán has proposed a multi-faceted security approach. His plan includes modernizing the video surveillance system with facial and license plate recognition technology, establishing a flagrancy unit, and strengthening the Serenazgo municipal security force. Bazán emphasized the need for preventive actions such as improved street lighting to address the current security crisis.

In Carmen Alto, Batalla Perú candidate Dante Avilés is focusing on the recovery of public spaces and the optimization of existing resources. Avilés intends to audit the current video surveillance system to ensure all cameras are operational before investing in new equipment. Additionally, he proposes replacing old streetlights with LED technology through an agreement with Electrocentro and suggests reallocating municipal funds from entertainment and events toward citizen security.
